We stayed in Oxford for six nights, during which time we were able to explore, sight-see, shop, and experience the wonderful university city + its culture.
We climbed the tower of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin and took in the breathtaking views. We attended a beautiful Evensong at New College. We were led on a walking tour of Oxford by an Oxford fellow + historian. We witnessed students bustling around town dressed up in robes, which indicated that they were in the midst of taking their final exams. We experienced the academic atmosphere that defines the city as we walked down its cobblestone streets, past its old, gorgeous buildings.
There were many nights of talking, giggling, and trying to get a WiFi signal each night at our bed & breakfast. There were several fun, late-night ice cream outings. There were near daily morning walks from the B&B, through the city, to the church for Mass. Oxford really came to feel like home ~ our “England home” ~ and we were sad to leave it when the time came.
Good thing there were so many more exciting adventures to come.
