Catching Up after England!

June 8, 2015

Hey everyone!

You may have noticed my absence from the blogosphere for the last two weeks… I promise I have a really good excuse for that. If you follow my Instagram, you already know (thanks to my obsessive Instagramming) that I just went on a trip to England!

I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful country (for the second time!) with a group from my high school. There were 27 of us, comprised of 20 students, 6 parents, and me, the one random alum who just had to tag along. So basically, it was an absolutely wonderful group of people to share this experience with.

We returned home to Michigan this past Saturday after having spent a full 12 days in England, visiting London, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Glastonbury, Birmingham, and the Lake District. Some of the highlights of the trip included:
~ exploring church ruins
~ hiking + mountain climbing in the Lake District
~ seeing the White Horse of Uffington
~ visiting the graves of Shakespeare, J.R.R. Tolkien, + St. Thomas More
~ doing typical touristy things
~ performing Shakespeare scenes outside of his birthplace
~ eating lots of pot pie, fish + chips, and sandwiches, and drinking lots of tea
~ and so many other exciting things

My second trip to England was just as amazing and unforgettable as my first. The first time I went to England three years ago, I completely fell in love with it, and then this time around, I fell in love all over again. With its lush, hilly countryside, its old, gorgeous architecture, its adorable towns, its rich history, and its polite, proper, tea-drinking culture, it’s hard not to be enchanted by it.

I’m planning to write about my adventures in England and share some of my many pictures here on the blog. I can’t wait to tell you all about it, so I hope you’ll keep an eye out around here over the next couple weeks!

Below I’ve included a few of my favorite Instagrams from the trip to get started 🙂

As they say in England, cheers!

I have soo much love for JP2. He was the pope of my childhood - the first papa from as far back as I can remember. I have so much appreciation for his Theology of the Body that first blew my mind in high school and that I was privileged to study more deeply in college. I love so many of his other writings too, and gosh I just love him in general.
