As many of you probably know by now, I am a big-time tea drinker. I very much dislike all things coffee related (I know, I know ~ everyone thinks I’m crazy), so tea is definitely my hot beverage of choice. I enjoy almost any type of tea, but there are a certain few that are my favorites and that I like for different reasons. I’d like to share them with you today here on the blog!
1. English Breakfast Tea
There are few things I love more than a hot cup of English breakfast tea in the morning. This tea is a classic black tea with a nice flavor and some caffeine for an energy boost that’s gentler and more natural than what you’d get from coffee. Brew this tea for 3-4 minutes, then add a little sweetener, since it’s rather bitter on its own ~ honey is my sweetener of choice on this one. Then grab a yummy breakfast treat (perhaps a scone, to add to the English-ness) and some pleasant reading material, and your day is off to a delightful start!
2. Green Tea
This yummy tea is has all kinds of awesome health benefits: it helps with weight loss, it boosts your immune system, it’s high in antioxidants, and so much more. Plus, it tastes great hot or cold, sweetened or unsweetened. I love it either hot or iced ~ and PSA: the iced green tea from Panera and Wendy’s are both super good (although they’re pretty sugary). I highly recommend incorporating green tea into your diet, even daily if you can, so you can reap all its excellent benefits!
3. Earl Grey Tea
Almost nothing beats a hot cup of earl grey. This classic black tea has a lovely flavor that is sure to please your taste buds and brighten your day ~ even the smell of earl grey tea makes me happy. Brew a cup of this tea for no longer than about 3 minutes, so that you don’t lose the sweet earl grey flavor. Sweeten it a bit if you so desire (although I honestly love it just by itself!), curl up with a good book, and enjoy!
4. Peach Tea
Fruit teas are the one type of tea that I’m not usually a huge fan of, but nonetheless, I really enjoy peach tea! It’s a fun and flavorful tea that is great hot or iced ~ and if you want to try it cold, Snapple peach tea is amazing (it literally tastes like you’re drinking a peach). I recommend pairing a hot cup of peach tea with a shortbread cookie or two for a lovely afternoon treat!
5. Sleepytime Tea or Sleepytime Extra Tea
These two teas are made by Celestial Seasonings, and drinking a cup of either one is a lovely way to end your day before going to bed. The difference between the two is an extra herb in Sleepytime Extra: valerian, an herbal sleep aid that can help with insomnia. Both types of tea contain a variety of soothing herbs such as chamomile, spearmint, and lemongrass. Brew a hot cup of either kind for about 4 minutes, then sip on it while you wind down for the night ~ and soon enough, you’ll be calmed down and ready to drift off to sleep.
I hope you’ll try some of these teas and that you enjoy them as much as I do! Stay tuned for more posts on tea here on the blog!
Sincerely,
~Stephanie
